www.rocdk.com Marilyn Manson-Born Villain(2012)

Born Villain is the upcoming eighth full-length studio album by American rock band, Marilyn Manson. It is set to be jointly released on May 1, 2012 by Cooking Vinyl Records and Manson’s own vanity label Hell, etc. Interviews with the band’s frontman described that the record would be in a heavier tone than that of previous works, describing the sound as a “suicide death metal” style.

In November 2010, Twiggy Ramirez was quoted as saying “We’ve got a new album [that we're working on]. It’s almost done. It’ll probably be out next year. It’s our best record yet, I think. I mean, everyone always says that, but I think this is our best work so far… It’s kind of like a little more of a punk rock Mechanical Animals without sounding too pretentious.” It is Marilyn Manson’s first album to be released via Cooking Vinyl.
The album’s lead single, “No Reflection”, received its first airplay on March 7, 2012 on KROQ Los Angeles.

Myspace-Is Marilyn Manson’s comeback film, Born Villain(2011)

Poor old Marilyn Manson. Just over a decade ago he was able to call himself The God of F**k and get away with it. He was bloody massive. In 1998, he won pretty much every Kerrang! Readers poll category going – good and bad. Love him or hate him, he was a force to be reckoned with. Then the rot started to set in. The campaign surrounding his last album – regardless of how good some of the songs on it were – was capsized by Manson’s shoddy live performances, drunken interviews, and the sense that he just didn’t give a damn anymore. And not in a good way.

Well, Manson is back, with a “short film” called ‘Born Villain’. Is this video an indication that things are changing for the better in the world of Manson, or is it yet more evidence that Brian Warner well and truly blown his chances of getting back to the big time?

First up let’s get the real WTF out of the way – ‘Born Villain’ was directed by Shia LaBeouf – yes, he of the Transformers film franchise – after the pair met at a concert by The Kills and hit it off. Secondly, it isn’t strictly a traditional music video per se. Instead it features clips of music purporting to be from Manson’s as-yet untitled eighth studio album, as well as plenty of shots of Manson (and friends) spouting off lines from Macbeth and reducing them to pretentious, sixth-form poetry-esque expressions of “dialogue”. Oh. Right. Hmmm.

Anyway, you can check the entire of the short film out down below – but be warned, there is some seriously NSFW-level business going on in it. You might want to wait till your boss is out of sight before clicking the ‘play’ button:

Myspace-Senses Fail-Bloody romance,Recommended band

Life, is floating fast away.
But I look, your head is turned away. From the moment you left I knew that something wasn’t right. But the feeling inside has kept me up all night. You and me are like one heart-beat.You and me are like one heart-beat.So slice open my veins. And let, the romance bleed away. From the moment you left I knew that something wasn’t right. But the feeling inside has kept me up all night. You and me are like one heart-beat.You and me are like one heart-beat.Back into what I thought I knew, these words inside me, tell me what to do.My heart held, in the palm of your hand.(Forget my name) Now I know, the way to go, this place inside my demented mind.(Forget my name) You saw me bleeding on the bathroom floor.(Forget my name) This time in silence, this time I win. (Forget my name) Now you will feel my painForget my name

Myspace-Nightwish vs Evanescence,Band combination 2012

A mix with videoclips from Nightwish, Within Temptation, Evanescence and Lacuna Coil. Used video’s: Nightwish – Blessed The Child Nightwish – Nemo Nightwish – Wish I Had An Angel Within Temptation – Angels Within Temptation – Stand My Ground Evanescence – Bring Me To Life Evanescence – Everybody’s Fool Evanescence – My Immortal Evanescence – Going Under Evanescence ft Seether – Broken Lacuna Coil – Swamped Lacuna Coil – Our Truth Music: Lacuna Coil – Heaven’s A Lie(2011-2012)

n 2003, Evanescence successfully fused heavy guitars with beautiful female vocals and haunting atmospheric textures. This was a sound that had not been heard before in the mainstream and many people praised Evanescence for offering something new in the generally dull FM radio environment. There are, however, quite a few metal bands with female singers (not death growlers like Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy) who deserve more success. Most of these bands are known in the underground heavy metal community but are unknown to the mainstream. This isn’t to say Evanescence is guilty of ripping off any of these bands or that Evanescence don’t deserve success. They released their first EP in 1998 and have been making music long before everyone heard Bring Me To Life. If you find the music on Fallen to be too commercial, I suggest listening to some of their older stuff (Origin and the two EPs). Their next album should be closer to this style without pandering to the mainstream as Fallen did. Evanescence is very much a rock band, as opposed to a metal band, which has given them an undeserved bad name in the metal community. I’d go so far as to say that Evanescence is possibly the most misunderstood band in the mainstream when it comes to the opinions of metalheads. A lot of the comparisons to these bands are based only on the fact that they are fronted by female vocalists, as the styles of the bands are otherwise quite different from Evanescence. Originally I didn’t even want to mention the comparison in this thread since Evanescence really has nothing to do with these bands, but I figured it would come up eventually and Evanescence is one of my favorite bands.

The most well known band in this genre is Italy’s Lacuna Coil. Their style is basically straight-forward atmospheric metal with both male and female vocals. They have two vocalists, Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro. Cristina has a very haunting, cold voice which works perfectly with the atmosphere the music creates. Andrea does both clean singing and screaming, although he’s much better at the latter than the former. They’ve released three albums. My favorite is probably Unleashed Memories, although In a Reverie is also excellent. Their most recent album, Comalies, is more simplistic and seems to be going for a more mainstream sound. It also has a lot of clean singing from Andrea which doesn’t always work well. It’s still a good album though.

The next band some people mention is Finland’s Nightwish, who mix power metal with operatic female singing and a lot of classical influence. I don’t love this band as much as some people do because sometimes the classical opera is a bit much for my taste, but there is no denying their talent and some people will really enjoy their music. Their best album is probably Oceanborn.

Another band in this genre is The Gathering, who are from Holland. They are often credited with pioneering this genre. They started out as a typical death metal band with male vocals in the early 90s, but after losing their original vocalist, they managed to recruit Anneke Van Giersbergen on vocals. She has a very beautiful, Hypnotic, and Emotional voice. This band has never written the same album twice, which has alienated some metalheads. They’ve released quite a few albums over the years. I have not heard them all, although I plan to get them eventually. Mandylion is definitely the heaviest album they did with Anneke on vocals, while their later stuff is more experimental and atmospheric with less of a metal sound. I’m surprised by how much I like their music, since it’s quite mello and I’m a metalhead. Some metalheads dislike them because of the lack of heavyness, but this band has the potential to appeal to so many people far outside the metal community and it’s sad that so few people in the US know about them. Listen to them through the intimacy of headphones in a dark room. I didn’t even like them until I put the headphones on, but now I think they are easily the most underrated band in the genre.

There are other bands in this genre that I haven’t heard yet, including After Forever, Within Temptation and Theatre of Tragedy. I will probably listen to them eventually, and I’m curious if anyone on these forums has heard them. All of these bands are very talented and deserve much more success. If you haven’t heard them, I highly recommend checking them out, even if you aren’t a metalhead.

Project Pitchfork Live 2012 Meier Music Hall Braunschweig

Myspace-Terminal Choice,Band highly recommended introduction

(1993 – present)

Terminal Choice is a German synth rock band formed in 1993 by singer Chris Pohl (also of Blutengel, Tumor, Pain of Progress and owner of the Fear Section label). Their lyrics are divided fairly equally between German and English. Originally their sound was primarily gloomy electronic music, but the guitars introduced in the 1998 album Navigator gave the band a harder rock edge.

Besides Chris, the original lineup included Jens Gärtner who provided the drums and loops. In 1997, Manuel Selling was added to the lineup to provide the guitars. In 2000, Manuel left the band and Gordon Mocznay took over on guitar and bass guitar. A year later in 2001, Louis Manke joined the band as well, adding a second guitar to the band.

Terminal Choice is currently Chris Pohl’s main and most well-known project, and they have enjoyed great success both in Germany and abroad, and are often compared to and sometimes referred to as a precursor to another popular German industrial-stomp band, Rammstein. The success of Terminal Choice has also transferred to the other members of Terminal Choice, as Chris helped Gordon form his own band known as Mordorn and also helped Louis form a band named Staubkind. Despite being involved with numerous bands, all members are still creating music with Terminal Choice and a new album with the title “New Born Enemies” was released on the 28th of july, in 2006.

Myspace-I: Scintilla orchestra concert and latest album, 2011

The COMA Music Magazine crew was lucky enough to witness the wonder of Mankind Is Obsolete, I:Scintilla, Element A4040, and Technodrone at Chaser’s in Scottsdale, AZ. My Oontzcast co-host Tiffany, the grand wizard J, and myself ventured out of the bar church on a fine Sunday evening to head to Chaser’s, a local venue/bar where I have seen the likes of Combichrist and God Module play. This evening was a little different because I did not know what to expect but J was looking forward to seeing I:Scintilla and Tiffany was giddy about Element A440.

I was looking forward to seeing a local act called Technodrone who opened the show. I have heard their music on Facebook and was unsure about how the performance was going to be. Technodrone consists of 3 members Jay, Brendand, and Lance. I was quit impressed with the oontzyness of each song and the energy each of the band mates gave off. They managed to pull off a good cover of Depeche Mode’s “Policy of Truth”. Near the end of their set J strongly stated something about how they play their own music on stage. Technodrone had the biggest crowd of the evening and many seemed to disperse after their performance. The only downfall I had is the sound wasn’t loud enough which ended up being a problem for me with each band the entire night.

Up next was American Gods which I ended up missing because I had to hold the camera while J interviewed I:Scintilla which you can check out on coma-online. We did walk in on the end of their set and all I can say is they are very heavy metal and the guitarist was wearing a kilt. While we were waiting for I:Scintilla’s set Tiff drank and drank, fortunately for you readers I did not drink that evening so I could write this wonderful review.

I was not 100% familiar with I:Scintilla’s music except the song called “From a Wasteland to a Dream” which was an awesome song off The Electronic Saviors compilation and they actually opened their set with that song. One specific thing I have to mention about I:Scintilla, they are way better live, I’m sorry but their albums do not do them justice and their performance was amazing as a group and individually. Brittany’s voice could be heard through out the entire bar and parking lot. Jim had a splint on his foot yet he was rockin it out like nothing was wrong. I couldn’t help but notice that in the crowd at the front of the stage there was a guy who will remain nameless that seemed really plastered and really was into the music if you know what I mean.

The first thing I noticed when Mankind Is Obsolete hit the stage was Tash was wearing a I:Scintilla shirt which I thought was awesome that she represented. I also heard from a little bird that Scott was wearing the exact same shirt as last time, um gross. Anyways, Mankind went straight into a newer song. The band didn’t give much commentary but Tash did state that driving through Arizona has inspired many lyrics in the past and I really wanted to hear more but this is a concert and we must hear them play. At the time I was not too familiar with Mankind so I really cannot give you a break down of each song they sang. Towards the middle of their set I was surprised that Johan from Ikonoklast and Hardwire jumped on stage and sang a duet with Tash and it was pretty badass. Also towards the end of the show Halo from Element A440 sang a duet as well which was creepy and happy all at the same time.

One thing I must mention, in the crowd there was a man with what looked like a doll on his shoulders, I kept thinking to myself why the hell would you bring a doll to the show? Then I thought, maybe they had the doll because of that one album cover. I pictured myself pulling the doll off the guy’s shoulders and sacrificing it to the crowd. I came to find out, at the end of the show, that it was a real child so thank goodness I didn’t sacrifice the child. I’m going to briefly mention Element A440 because I was unable to watch their performance due to us interviewing Mankind. From what I heard and saw they seemed to be very entertaining and we are actually going to be seeing Element A440 perform with Dismantled in a couple of weeks.
